Over the past few weeks, we have completed a major upgrade of our server environment. Just like a personal computer occasionally needs updates, the infrastructure behind Utopis, specification services and websites also requires regular maintenance.
Together with our service provider Interstellar, we carefully renewed the underlying software.
For most users, a server upgrade changes very little on the surface. That is exactly how it should be. Behind the scenes, however, dozens of processes work together to keep websites, specification services, product information and Utopis running reliably.
A server upgrade involves much more than installing new software. Multiple components need to be updated, tested and checked for compatibility. By preparing everything in advance, we were able to carry out the work in a controlled and predictable manner.
Digitalisation in the construction industry continues to accelerate. Developments around product data, specifications, BIM, Digital Product Passports (DPP) and digital collaboration all require a reliable technical foundation.
With this upgrade, we have once again invested in the continuity, security and future readiness of our services. Much of this work remains invisible, but it is essential for supporting our customers in the years ahead.
And to be honest, after weeks of preparation, testing and implementation, we felt we had earned a small reward. So we finished the day with an ice cream.
